Phone Fear is the twenty-third novel in the Spooksville series. The summary on the back cover of the UK edition reads:
- "Telephones are ringing in Spooksville. But people who answer the phone are disappearing, spirited away by demons on the line. Can Adam and the gang get rid of the demons - or will they be tempted to pick up the phone and see who's calling?"
Like several other Spooksville novels, the description on the back of the book is vague and inconsistent with the actual plot of the story; this is presumably done for dramatic emphasis.
