Summary[]

Although the Spooksville series was written for children, there are many philosophical, sociological, and metaphysical themes explored throughout the series. Many of Christopher Pike's other novels, written for teenagers, contain similarly dramatic themes

Religious[]

  • Sins - Phone Fear

Technological[]

  • Artificial Intelligence - the sanctity of robotic consciousness is addressed during The Creepy Creature.

Ethical[]

  • Environment
  • Biological diversity

Miscellaneous[]

  • A common theme between all Spooksville novels is the use of creative license regarding the summaries on the back covers. More often than not, the synopsis provided is quite inaccurate and, in some extreme cases, entirely divergent from the actual storyline of the novel. The most probable causes of these inconsistencies are purposeful distortion for dramatic emphasis, as well as a lack of regard for the quality of the synopses in general by the publishing staff.
